Coffee & Brunch Morning - 5 FebruaryGreat to catch up with eleven Social Friends at the Tring Garden Centre. It didn't take long for the restaurant to fill. Several eyes were focused on my eggs benedict, they were yummy! Tony you certainly missed out on this one... see you all at the next one. Martin Sunday Carvery - Little Hay - 11 FebruaryTwenty members enjoyed a welcome return visit to the Little Hay carvery – a lovely meal, good service and great company. Barbara Boogie Nights Disco - Hemel FC - 16 FebruaryWell what can I say, Alex rolled out the best Motown songs, Jean out done us all on the dance floor again! Mr C shaved off his beard! And we all enjoyed ourselves, a big thanks to Stan for organising the ever popular Boogie Nights. Martin Thames Path Walk - London - 16 FebruaryWe had a fabulous time in London with a big thank you going to Dave C for organising. We all ended up meeting at the local wetherspoon’s adjacent to Tower Hill station for coffee before setting off. We then walked down to St Katherine’s dock before heading along the north embankment. Some of us did a little mud larking as the tide was out on the Thames. We then headed for lunch at the Grapes, a very old pub once frequented by Charles Dickens on Narrow Street, before heading to nearby Canary Wharf to pick up the Uber boat. Sailing down to North Greenwich, we picked up the cable car back across the Thames to the Excel Centre. Then back on several trains to Tower Bridge for more food and drink before seeing the city lights and boats lit up on the Thames now it was dark. We were all tired but happy, for the very full and interesting day we’d had as we made our way back to Euston. See all the photos on our Facebook page. Sheila

Coffee Morning - Burston Garden Centre - 11th JanuaryWith the festive period behind us, eighteen Social Friends members were pleased to get out and enjoy a coffee, some beautifully made cakes, and a chat at Burston Garden Centre in St Albans. We were well looked after by the catering team there who pulled our tables together for the group. Breakfast at the premier inn - 13th JanuaryA big thank you to two of our members, Joyce and Jane for hosting the Premier Inn Breakfast on Saturday. It was great to catch up with sixteen members for this brilliant value breakfast. We were very pleased that Patrick reserved our favourite window seating area with lovely views out towards the Water Gardens. We may look to organise an evening meal at this venue. Golden Valley Walk in Ashridge - 14 January
A most enjoyable afternoon at the Garston Hollywood Bowl today. Considering the cold weather, it was great to see twelve Social Friends members bowling. Not quite sure how yours truly achieved the highest score though! A big thank you to Roy for organising today's enjoyable event, brilliant value for money. We hope to see more Social Friends members next month. Martin Freddie Mercury Tribute Dinner - 20th JanuaryA really good turnout for a long awaited return to the Royal Oak in Kitters Green Abbots Langley, to see a Freddie Mercury tribute, Barbara Berkhamsted Common Walk - 28th JanuaryWe had a perfect mild and sunny winter's day for our walk today. Starting at Berkhamsted Castle, we climbed the steep hill up to Berkhamsted Golf Club, and after enquiring with some golfers we finally found the WW1 practice trenches. We then headed off through the farm fields and petted the horses who greeted us. After arriving back at the castle some of the group headed home and some walked on to the Dower House for a much needed coffee. The coffee shop is situated adjacent to the childhood home of Winston Churchill wife, Clementine Churchill. A fabulous morning with good friends. Sheila Turkey & Tinsel 1st-4th December Warners Lakeside Hayling Island was the venue for our Social Friends Turkey and Tinsel weekend break. The food, entertainment, refurbished accommodation and the Social Friends Company made for a most enjoyable and great value weekend away. We were so busy having a great time, we forgot to take photos. Tring Park Walk – 28th December We had a lovely walk in Tring Park, although a touch windy and very muddy in places, we had some great views of Aylesbury Vale. We found several handmade and carved benches and of course took photos at the folly and obelisk. Returning to our cars to change our muddy boots, we then walked to the café at Tring Museum and stopped to admire one of the galleries. A very pleasant morning indeed!

We finished our walk with refreshments in Poppins Café in Chesham High Street and proudly watched the Remembrance parade pass by. Coffee Morning 15th November It was nice to meet up with thirteen Social Friends members new and old at the Hemel Garden Centre this morning.
