The Queen celebrates her 90th birthday this month and Social Friends marked this auspicious occasion by hosting a BBQ and picnic by the monument in Ashridge. Despite the damp start to the morning Social Friends members are never put off by a bit of rain and ventured out to set up our BBQ, gazebos and even a tent for the festivities ahead.
Approximately 50 members attended the day which started at 1pm with the lighting of the bbq and the cooking of some mouth watering burgers, sausages, chicken and salmon. For the vegetarians within the group we also had some tasty meat free options which even caught the eye of some of the meat lovers!

A birthday celebration is never complete without a cake and one of our kind Social Friends member's brought along an awesome birthday cake which prompted the group to sing a rousing few verses of Happy Birthday to the Queen, much to the amusement of passers by!
With tea, coffee and even the odd glass of bubbly flowing the whole event was a major success with most members taking their picnics home, being too full after eating too much BBQ food. The weather was mostly kind to us with only one downpour and we even managed a period of nice warm sunshine before packing up and heading home. See our gallery for more pictures
